Stainless Steel Category
1.Austenitic stainless steel
200 series austenite – grades include 202, 203, 204, 205, etc. These grades are non-magnetic, cannot be heat treated, have excellent molding and processing properties, and are widely used in washing machines, bathtubs, etc.
300 series austenite – grades include 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 308, 309, 310, 314, 316, 317, 321, 330, 347, etc., with obvious advantages in cold working performance. These grades are non-magnetic, not heat treatable, and have excellent formability. Adding the element molybdenum greatly improves the corrosion resistance. These grades are widely used in food equipment, chemical equipment, etc.
2.martensitic stainless steel
400 series martensite – grades include 403, 410, 414, 416, 420, 422, 431, 440, etc., which are magnetic and heat treatable. They are mainly used in fasteners, pump shafts and turbine blades.
3.ferritic stainless steel
400 series ferrite – grades include 405, 409, 429, 430, 434, 436, 442, 446, etc., which are magnetic but cannot be heat treated. These grades are mainly used in automotive interiors and kitchen appliances
4.Precipitation hardened stainless steel
Precipitation hardening type – grades include 13-8, 15-5, 15-7, 17-4, 17-7, etc., mainly used in valves, gears, petrochemical equipment, etc.
5.duplex steelstainless steel
Duplex steel – grades include 329, 2205, 2304, 2507, 3RE60, etc. These grades have stronger stress corrosion cracking resistance than austenite and stronger hardness than pure ferrite. Widely used in pipelines, pressure shaft systems, etc.
